Community Chat Room Rules

Why are there rules?

Without some simple rules to protect people's rights all we have left is chaos. If everyone sticks by the rules BoomerTowne can be a lot of fun for everyone.

  1. No swearing or explicit language.
A general rule of thumb, if you have to misspell it to get past the room filters then it’s not allowed. This rule also applies to sexually explicit language and usernames.
  2. No flooding or unnecessary repetition.
Flooding is the repeated posting of the same message or text. It also includes posting of nonsense text that disrupts the chat. This makes it hard for other chatters to continue their conversation and will not be tolerated in the chat room.
  3. No fighting or Name Calling.
Arguments that get out of hand or fighting will not be tolerated and Moderators will remove problem people from the chat rooms regardless of who started it. Likewise if someone wants to be left alone then leave the person alone.
  4. No Cybering in public.
Not everyone likes to hear about it, so if you must do it, keep your messages private. Requesting a "cyber" meeting is also not allowed and you may be removed from the room.
  5. No racist or prejudice slurs or harassment. *(for more information, see below)
Racism and prejudice of any kind will not be tolerated. Such behavior only makes you look small minded.
  6. No typing all in CAPS.
Typing all in CAPS or capitals is considered shouting and as such should rarely be used. Typing whole lines in CAPS is considered rude.
  7. No illegal activity, as per real life. **(for more information, see below)
Any activities on this site that are illegal in your own country or state are not allowed. Please be mindful of this as such activities within this site can be provided as transcripts to authorities as required.
  8. No posting of commercial materials.
Posting or transmitting unauthorized or unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or any other forms of solicitation to other users, on BoomerTowne.com, except in those areas that maybe designated for such a purpose, is not allowed
  9. No Disruption of Services. ***(for more information, see below)
BoomerTowne does not allow posting or use of computer programs that contain destructive features, such as viruses, worms, or Trojan horses.
  10. No posting of private contact details.
Private contact details are not to be posted publicly within the rooms or other services of this site. This rule is in place to protect the innocent from personal risk by others.

*No Harassment — BoomerTowne welcomes people of all races, religions, genders, national origins, sexual orientations and points of view. We don’t tolerate expressions of bigotry, hatred, harassment or abuse, nor will we tolerate threats of harm to anyone. We encourage discussion and exchange of ideas but do not allow threatening, defamatory, abusive, or illegal statements. We do not allow sexually explicit material in conversations, room titles, room topics or nicknames. Impersonation of other members will be considered a form of harassment, and will not be tolerated.

**Illegal Activities — We will not allow any illegal activities. Specifically, we won't let you advocate illegal conduct or participate in illegal or fraudulent schemes. You cannot use the BoomerTowne chat rooms to distribute unauthorized copies of copyrighted material, including photos, artwork, text, recordings, designs, or computer programs. In addition, we don’t allow the trading or swapping of images that are sexually explicit, obscene or vulgar. Rooms titled for the purpose of exchanging or swapping images are not allowed. Stalking others in the chat rooms or in another manner is a serious offense. In many areas, such behavior is considered to be a criminal act. We reserve the right to release information to the proper authorities, because of a violation of our standards, or because of unlawful acts, if the information is subpoenaed, and if we deem it necessary and/or appropriate.

***Disruption of Services — BoomerTowne does not allow posting or use of computer programs that contain destructive features, such as viruses, worms, or Trojan horses. We also don’t allow the use of bots or automated scripts, whether they are benign or destructive in intent. We discourage disruptive conduct: persistent off-topic comments in a topic-oriented conference, statements that incite others to violate the Standards, Terms of Service or Privacy Policies, or the physical act of "scrolling" - in any form - all are considered disruptive.

Changes in Standards Document — BoomerTowne reserve the right to modify this document and add/change the rules at any time.
